Description:

If you have always wanted to see the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh, Angkor Wat in Siem Reap and the Patuxay Arc de Triumphe monument in Vientiane - then you'll have to wait until the borders open.

However you can still step up to a virtual challenge of walking through each of our Embassy’s accredited countries – from Bangkok we will head to Phnom Penh, on to Vientiane and back here to work.

Like the legend Proclaimers song, you are probably thinking "I can walk 500 miles". Well in this case you'll need to go 900 more. Luckily some of the finest athletes in Thailand (coincidently also your work colleagues) have decided to join a team with you to conquer this challenge.

As an individual every step that you take will be added to your team’s total. First team to cover the 2,250 km will win. Whether you take 100 or 10,000 steps in a day doesn’t matter, you could still be the difference. Every step from your bed to the couch counts just the same as climbing to the top of MahaNakhon.

Along the way you will hopefully have some fun with some of those people you only ever see on zoom calls now, and some people maybe even taking the opportunity to get fitter.

Key details 1

1. ChallengeRunner.com which will record steps and accumulate your team score.

2. You can use a fitness tracker or phone to record the number of steps that you take that day. You can sync to the ChallengeRunner app or simply manually enter your steps in to the website.

3. If you decide to sync then ChallengeRunner will pull down only your steps and distance data but no personal information or tracking GPS information from your tracker. All your information remains private to you.

4. Only each team’s total will be displayed. No individual progress will be shown so no need to worry if you don’t take any steps one day – no one will know.

5. Prizes to be determined, though doing a winning dance on your work neighbours desk to illustrate beating them is a given. Other prizes will be picked up by teams along the way.
